Travel grants
PhD students and recent graduates may apply for travel grants to attend the Marine Science Conference. In addition, other students who find it difficult to fund their participation may apply for travel grants. A freely-worded application is addressed to the treasurer at SHF. Travel grants will go towards travel to and from the conference by the cheapest means as well as living arrangements in agreement with SHF. Travel grants will only be awarded to those individuals who actively participate in the conference by giving an oral presentation or a poster of their own research.
Young Scientist Award
Since 2005, a prize is awarded during the conference to reward excellence in marine research by early-career scientists. The winner is selected by conference participants by a vote during the last day of the conference. A price of SEK 1,000 is awarded for best oral presentation and a price of SEK 1000 for best poster presentation. Registering to vote takes place in connection with that you sign up for the conference. You can join in and compete if you 1) have a maximum 5-year-old university degree (Bachelor Bachelor, file. Mag. or equivalent) or working on a PhD 2) have made your presentation and most of the work you present yourself. For the distribution of scholarships to happen, at least five contributions in each category must be registered and be presented. You are unable to compete in both categories, or if you are nominated for the Dyrssen Prize. All eligible participants are responsible for registering as a ”young researcher” in the conference registration form.
