The competition for the Dyrssen Award 2019 was tough! The evaluation of the nominated theses was carried out by the Board on the basis of the general interest and value of the studies, the level of knowledge of the author, the performance of the study, and the presentation of the work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The board has decided to award the Dyrssen Award for the best MSc thesis in marine sciences to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Kyra Spaan<\/strong> (Stockholms universitet) f\u00f6r hennes examensarbete \u201dFluorine mass balance in marine mammals from the Northern Hemisphere \u2013 a combination of targeted, total (organo)fluorine, and non-targeted analysis\u201d. I studies kvantifierade och identifierade Spaan organofluor-\u00e4mnen levrar hos olika grupper av marina d\u00e4ggdjur, samt visade att exponeringen av organofluor-\u00e4mnen f\u00f6r n\u00e4rvarande underskattas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Dyrssen Award for the second best MSc thesis goes to: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Felicity Pike<\/strong> (Stockholm University) for her thesis \u201cThe social-ecological domains of the seagrass-associated invertebrate gleaning fishery in Zanzibar, Tanzania\u201d. In her multidisciplinary study, she assessed the different ecological, social and economic aspects of gleaning<\/em> (i.e. collection of invertebrates) \u2013 a process often ignored in conservation and management plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The official prize ceremony will take place 12-13 November in \u00d6regrund during the Marine Science Days at SLU Aqua, where the winners have the opportunity to present their research as a part of the conference.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Kampen om Dyrssenpriset 2019 var mycket h\u00e5rd.
