The Swedish Society for Marine Sciences and the Norwegian Association of Marine Scientists welcome everyone who is engaged and interested in marine sciences, management and environmental monitoring to this conference on the SEA! The meeting focuses on current aspects of research, management and environmental monitoring in marine systems. The theme of the conference will relate to salinity gradients along the Swedish coastal zone, from the Bothnian Sea and the Gulf of Bothnia, to the Kattegat and Skagerrak. In addition to oral presentations and poster presentations, there will be room for networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abstract submissions for oral or poster presentations are highly recommended and encouraged.<\/strong> Submission is managed through the registration portal below. Submitted contributions will be organized within sessions based on the conference program, or standalone if the content is considered outside the scope of the sessions provided (see program outlined below). Depending on the number of submitted abstracts (oral and posters), the Board may need to prioritize. Submissions from second (MSc) and third (PhD) cycle students, as well as from early career scientists (post docs), will be given priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


General guidelines<\/strong>
Abstract: 2000 characters including spaces
Presentation: 12 min + 3 min for questions and discussion, for guest speakers 25 min + 5 min.
Poster: size A0 (841 x 1189 mm)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venue<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue for the conference is Aula Magna (link to campus map<\/a>) on Stockholm University's campus. In addition to keynote talks, panel discussions, oral presentations and poster contributions there will be time and space for networking during the breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conference dinner<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference dinner will take place on November 25. Vi are working towards costs such that all conference attendees can attend the dinner. The cost for the dinner will be announced in late summer\/fall and dinner registration will be done separately from conference registration. You will receive updated information about the dinner directly and on this web page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dyrssen Award<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Swedish Society for Marine Sciences annually awards prizes for Master\u2019s degree projects in marine sciences in Sweden. Monetary prizes are awarded to the two best nominations: First prize is SEK 10,000 and the second prize is SEK 5,000. The award is instituted by SHF in honour of David Dyrssen (1922 - 2011), emeritus professor of analytical chemistry at the University of Gothenburg. As one of the founding members of the Swedish Society for Marine Sciences, he spent his career being an active proponent for the promotion of inter-disciplinary research in marine sciences. The awards and presentations will take place on November 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annual meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Svenska Havsforskningsf\u00f6reningen \u00e4r en politiskt obunden och ideell organisation. F\u00f6reningens \u00e5rsm\u00f6te h\u00e5lls den 25 november kl. 15:00 som en del av konferensen. Norska Havsforskerf\u00f6rening kommer ocks\u00e5 h\u00e5lla sitt \u00e5rsm\u00f6te vid samma tid. Observera att \u00e5rsm\u00f6tet kommer att h\u00e5llas p\u00e5 svenska. Conference fee<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration to the conference encompasses access to oral presentations and the poster session. Registration of Swedish participants requires membership of the Swedish Society for Marine Science. Participants from other Nordic countries than Sweden that are not members of their marine science association are exempted from membership in the Swedish Society for Marine Sciences, but are encouraged to consider a marine association membership in their respective home countries. The conference fee includes icebreaker (Tuesday), fika and lunches (Wednesday and Thursday). Special registration is needed for the conference dinner (Wednesday). The conference fee does not cover travel expenses or costs associated with accommodation. A limited number of travel grants (up to 5 000 SEK for travel, accommodation, and conference fee) are available for students and early career scientists. We prioritise compensation for travel and accommodation for students and early career scientists that participate with oral or poster presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conference fee for participants of public Swedish institutions: 2500 SEK<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Konferensbidrag f\u00f6r utl\u00e4ndska deltagare och deltagare fr\u00e5n icke-offentliga institutioner och f\u00f6retag \u00e4r 3125 SEK. Denna avgift \u00e4r densamma som avgiften f\u00f6r deltagare fr\u00e5n svenska offentliga instititioner, men inkluderar den obligatoriska momsen p\u00e5 25 %.
