{"id":47,"date":"2019-05-08T09:49:10","date_gmt":"2019-05-08T09:49:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shf.se\/?page_id=47"},"modified":"2026-06-03T12:27:46","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T12:27:46","slug":"dyrssenpriset","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/shf.se\/en\/dyrssenpriset\/","title":{"rendered":"The Dyrssen Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Swedish Society for Marine Sciences annually presents&nbsp;<em>The Dyrssen Award<\/em>&nbsp;for Master\u2019s degree projects in marine sciences in Sweden. Monetary prizes are awarded to the two best nominations: First prize is SEK 10,000 and the second prize is SEK 5,000. The award is instituted by SHF in honour of David Dyrssen (1922 - 2011), emeritus professor of analytical chemistry at the University of Gothenburg. As one of the founding members of the Swedish Society for Marine Sciences, he spent his career being an active proponent for the promotion of inter-disciplinary research in marine sciences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2026 prizes will be awarded during the Swedish Society for Marine Sciences Marine Research Days meeting, to be held in Stockholm in November 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nominate candidates to the Dyrssen award 2026 latest the 31 August 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please send your nominations to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:dyrssen@shf.se\">dyrssen(at)shf.se<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-dd07bc6f-adf9-426e-8086-d80f9542a266\">Master's theses in the marine field approved between July 1st 2025 and June 30th 2026 are eligible for the 2026 Dyrssen award. The project must be within a marine science discipline and be examined at a university in Sweden. Nominations can be sent to us by the student but it needs to include a nomination letter from the supervisor or the examiner. The nomination should include all of the following:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-dd07bc6f-adf9-426e-8086-d80f9542a266\">The nomination pack should include the following, compiled as a single pdf document:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol id=\"block-ca8cf4db-814e-45f0-9220-49723957e8de\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cover page containing\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The nominee's full name, address, and e-mail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University and Department that approved the thesis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Number of credits (h\u00f6gskolepo\u00e4ng).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name of supervisor or examiner and their e-mail address<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nomination letter from the supervisor or examiner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The thesis as a pdf file.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-5f4023f8-894a-4fa2-b561-3a167d0d6c19\">The nomination should be sent to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:dyrssen@shf.se\">dyrssen(at)shf.se<\/a>, you can also contact us at this e-mail with any questions regarding the Dyrssen awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-66d2fc99-eec8-4abe-9412-e2aa6209aa90\">Questions?
